Yoga and Menopause Workshop

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

Enjoy a Yoga & Menopause Retreat at the Kismet Inn. Learn and explore practices that you can do for yourself during this transitional period of your life. Practicing yoga can strengthen your hormonal system, it can assist in keeping your heart vital, your bones strong, emotions balanced and self peaceful. It can work in reducing some of the symptoms of perimenopause and menopause. The workshop will be both informational and experiential. No experience in yoga is needed.

Choose one of the 5 guest rooms each designed and decorated to create an ideal setting for peaceful meditation and relaxation. Each of our five very individual guest rooms has a special ambiance and charm all its own, offering the opportunity of five quite unique experiences. No matter which room you choose, every detail has been attended in order to provide the ultimate in beauty and comfort for a truly memorable, relaxing stay. Each room has been designed as a simple remedy for stress, providing a serene, embracing environment ideal for releasing your cares and rejuvenating your body and mind. Down comforters, handmade quilt bedspreads and textiles from world have been used to make up each of the hand-crafted beds, fitted with extraordinarily comfortable mattresses and pillows. In the ensuite bathrooms, the natural beauty of river rock is complemented by beautiful turquoise tiling and radiant heat floors and steam shower room or custom made Japanese style/Turkish Hamam and shower. The common areas are just as relaxing and pleasing to the soul as the bedrooms.

The yoga classes will be held by Susan Lubner who is a professionally certified Kripalu Yoga Teacher and Reiki II Practitioner and has been teaching yoga in the Bath, midcoast Maine area since 1992.

This yoga practice begins gently with an emphasis on being present in one’s body, maintaining a flowing breath and learning to love and nurture one’s self. It is not about “whipping” the body into shape. The practice allows one to choose the level of physical intensity right for them by learning to listen to their body and to honor its needs. It recognizes that every body is different and rather than forcing the body into “classic” yoga postures, modifications, to meet individual needs, are offered. The focus is on basic muscle and joint stretches, core strengthening, yoga postures, breathing, meditation and deep relaxation. All increase one’s ability to relax, release stress and energize one’s self.
