Bath sits on the banks of the Kennebec River and has longed been called the “City of Ships” because of its long maritime history. The Maine Maritime Museum explores Maine’s maritime heritage and culture – a wonderful place to spend some time or maybe try one of their river cruises.
Close by are Popham Beach State Park and Reid State Park – both on the ocean with a fort to explore at Popham and wonderful beaches to roam. Freeport, the home of L. L. Bean, Inc. and many upscale outlet shops, is just a few miles up the road.
